FurReal Friends Get Up and GoGo My Walkin Pup

The FurReal Friends toy line has been a smash hit ever since it was released. This year, for the Christmas 2014 season, the GetUp and GoGo My Walkin Pup are going to be the one all boys and girls ask Santa for when they hop up onto his lap.

This is a toy that’s great for kids who beg for a dog, but parents who don’t yet want them to try taking on that kind of responsibility. It’s lifelike, but not overwhelming.

When your child takes her out of the box and names her, that’s when the fun begins. Using four double-A batteries (which are not included), she comes to life and starts barking and making precious doggie noises.

She sounds just like a young puppy, and she’s active, too! Your child can put her on a leash and walk her around. The leash has a built-in remote control. Just like most toys this year, playtime isn’t limited to the offline world.

It’s also set up to work in conjunction with a free iOS or Android App called FurReal Friends that your child can download. With the app, your little one can create delicious meals for her new four-legged friend.

Or, she can give the dog a bubble bath – without the offline mess it would create if you put a new real puppy in the bath. This Hasbro toy is very plush – so she’s soft and fun to snuggle with.

As she interacts with your child, she not only barks and walks, but she does other fun things, too! She wags her tail and she can sit. You know how a dog tilts their head to the side when you speak to them? Well, this toy does that, too!

She has blue eyes, purple color, and a pink bow. It’s a perfect toy for girls ages 4 and up, depending on when they lose interest in plush toys that interact with them.

Parents have said this toy is very lifelike, so your kids will love it. They don’t even have to use the leash – clapping your hands has the same effect to get it to walk. It moves perfectly on wood, tile, or carpet floors – and if your child forgets to turn it off, that’s no problem – because it shuts off automatically so battery life isn’t wasted.

Imaginext 2-in-1 Supernova Battle Rover

Expected to hit the store in the Fall of 2014, the Imaginext 2-in-1 Supernova Battle Rover is going to be at the top of most toddlers’ must-have Christmas wish list. This formidable vehicle is one that’s built to save the world!

Kids age three and up are going to love this toy. It’s all about battling the bad guys in outer space – aliens trying to destroy the Earth. It’s perfect for helping your child gain mobility skills and also strengthen their imagination.

While there are some small, handheld vehicles perfect for a toddler’s use, the Imaginext 2-in-1 Supernova Battle Rover is giant-sized! Plus, they can take off the space shuttle and use that separately if they want to.

The space shuttle that comes off of the playset has projectile launchers and a control panel that kids can activate on their own. There’s a smaller vehicle that comes out of it with three figures they can use for game time.

There’s even a drill, crane, and saw blade that pulls out for them to play with as they pretend to be exploring outer space and keeping aliens from attacking us over time.

There’s a really cool claw with a pincher on it that your child can use to pick things up. The giant vehicle comes with six large wheels to carry everything around on – and it’s big enough to fit several things on it, like other figures and accessories – or even smaller vehicles.

It’s packed with lots of interactive play elements, and it uses 7 AA batteries that are not included in the toy, so make sure you buy those separately. Your child will be able to use the projectile and lights (19 in all), along with disc launchers.

He or she will have a blast playing with the alien detecting area and listening to the 200 sound effects that are built into the toy. Kids will want all three figures that come with it, but you can buy others separately if you want a robust community for your little one to engage with.

The ones it comes with are great – there are two astronauts and a gnarly looking Cyclops alien they have to deal with. But who says it has to be a bad alien? Since it’s up to your child’s imagination, these figures might just forge the next great alliance of the universe – and it all starts with the Imaginext 2-in-1 Supernova Battle Rover being unwrapped on Christmas morning!

LeapFrog LeapTV Active Video Game System

The brand name LeapFrog is synonymous with educational fun. For kids, this Christmas, getting to unwrap a LeapFrog LeapTV Active Video Game System is going to be the pinnacle of top toy requests!

This is the perfect starter video game system for kids ages 3 to 8 years old. The system is very interactive and unlike other video games where kids become static couch potatoes, the LeapFrog system has them getting up and being active as they dance around, jump, and have fun!

As a parent, you can pick from hundreds of video games for your child to play – all with an educational slant so it’s actually good for them to be playing. The games are a mix of traditional cartridges, videos, and downloads.

The educational slant will help your children with subjects like science, math, and reading. They’ll be solving problems to “win” points in the game. And if you have kids of different ages, they can level up to more advanced lessons.

The system starts by tailoring the games to your child’s age group. Then, since even kids of the same age have different learning styles and abilities, the game will adjust for your child’s specific capabilities to continue challenging them more and more.

Like the Kinect, the LeapFrog LeapTV system is motion sensing, and the controller is small enough for little hands to use. Your child doesn’t even have to be reading yet – because the system will “talk” to them and tell them what to do, so they don’t have to read instructions.

With the body motion option, they don’t need to hold the controller. The senor understands their movements and a camera can allow for more fun as it captures moves while your child dances and plays various games.

If they switch to Pointer Play, they can use the controller with the swivel end to play. This works with games like bowling in LeapFrog Sports. The Classic Control option has the A and B buttons for gaming like kids are used to.

Inside the box, you get the main LeapFrog LeapTV console, the camera mount and camera for the motion sensor games, the traditional controller with a strap to keep it on your wrist, and all of the cables and memory you need to play the game. You do have to buy two AA batteries for the controller, though.

Hot Wheels Street Hawk RC Flying Car

Hot Wheels have been a favorite toy for kids for years. This year, one of the top fifteen Christmas gift requests will be the Hot Wheels Street Hawk RC Flying Car – which got put on the Toys R Us Fabulous 15 list for 2014 gifts.

Since 1968, kids (mostly boys, but they’re not exclusive to that gender) have been enjoying Hot Wheels cars. They were mostly manual toys, but this RC version is taking things to a new level.

Everyone knows that RC cars have been around awhile. Kids have been able to race them and dart them all across the roads and sidewalks for years. But now Hot Wheels has brought about a flying car. This is just like Back to the Future, but instead of a DeLorean, this is a Hot Wheels Street Hawk.

In the past, kids have been excited to play with the Terrain Twister and Terrainiac – but now they’re able to take their racer to the skies. It’s a dual terrain vehicle, so it does still work on the ground, but if your child wants it to take off into the air, it can.

A 2.4 GHz transmitter is what propels it on the ground, so your child has ample steering control over it. It uses two 8mm motors that run on electricity and a LiPo 3.7V rechargeable battery.

Once the car takes off into the sky, it can fly for up to 200 feet and the two propellers spin at more than 35K RPMs. You can recharge it by USB cable or by transmitter if you prefer.

Right out of the box you get the StreetHawk plane and the remote control. Batteries are included, and since they chargeback, you don’t have to shell out for more when the time comes.

This toy is perfect for kids ages 4 and up. Most boys will be thrilled to get it, but if you have a little tomboy in your house, be sure and get her one, too! Who doesn’t like to fly vehicles around in the air? Or, drive them in a 360-degree area on the ground?

Every year there’s some major electronic vehicle that tops most kids’ wish list for Santa. This year, Hot Wheels has claimed that honor with the Street Hawk RC Flying Car.

Consumers have warned that this toy has some small parts, so make sure they don’t get lost easily. There are some extra spare parts like propellers, so you need to keep track of those carefully.
